3 Months in

Here we are nearly 3 months into parenthood and I think it's about time we start keeping a record of our adventures. Unfortunately, I am terrible at scrapbooking so, maybe I can be a little more faithful to updating a blog.

Benjamin was brought into our lives in the wee hours of Monday, April 23rd. He was born a couple of weeks ahead of schedule, but we were thrilled for the surprise. Our birth experience was absolutely amazing. It was by far the most painful and most difficult thing I have ever done, but I have never seen God in a more real way.

Benjamin has been such a great little guy to have around. I know most people say the first couple of weeks and months are the most difficult, but there are definitely advantages. So far we haven't really done what I call parenting. We don't have to discipline him or teach him table manners. We just get to love on him, feed him and keep him clean. Of course, keeping him clean can be interesting with the things he hides in his diapers or shoots out of his diapers and up his back, but I think it's a lot easier than cleaning up a sticky little boy.

He has quickly grown out of his newborn blob stage and into an expressive baby. He is smiling and gooing more and more every day. To strangers, he's "such a cute little baby" but he seems so big to David and I now. He was barely 7 pounds when we left the hospital and now he's a whopping 14 pounds. And it is so sweet to see Ben smile at David when he gets home from work in the afternoon. He's such an adorable little dude. Ben's pretty cute too!
